Machine axis

The LX series was specifically designed for the high-precision, efficient five-axis machining of turbine blades. This ultra-modern machining platform is the result of decades of experience in the development of machine tools, CAM systems and special tools combined with our in-house expertise in the prototype and series production of turbine blades.

The LX series is designed and built with these applications in mind. When starting with the application, breakthroughs in the achievable productivity and production safety become possible. Starrag has developed a multitude of unique and specific features providing real advantages over all general machine tool builders.

Process cooling

One key factor to lowering your tooling cots and increasing your productivity is selecting the right cooling method. All state - of - the - art through - spindle cooling medias are available throughout the LX range.

Integrated turning functionality

All machines in the LX series are available with full turning capability. Free-form turning, specific measurement cycles etc. make complete and accurate machining a reality.

Adaptive machining

Productivity and accuracy are no longer just a question of machine and tool. Adaptive machining of the individual workpiece is a quantum leap for many applications. 

Bar feeder solution for small blades

A 65mm bar feeder through the rotary axis (A) offers the possibility to completely finish machine small blades from bar. Finished parts are automatically placed in either the work piece Storage units or on a conveyor. The complete system delivers unstaffed production of all 6 blade sides.

6th side blade machining on LX 021

The LX 021 offers a NC axis driven support (U-axis) with an automatic
revolver unit where at three available interface positions support devices
(e.g. tailstock centre) and pneumatic activated clamping devices (e.g. vise)
for retaking can be mounted.
A 4th free revolver position allows the main spindle to swivel in a > 90
degree position. All this features allows hands free, automatic all side
operation of work pieces for «Blade machining in 1 go».
