Starrag USA, Inc. has an opening available in Huntington Beach, CA for an Applications Engineer Bumotec. Remote work allowed 1 day a week. Approximately 50% domestic travel to customer sites nationwide and to Starrag USA, Inc. Headquarters in Kentucky, and less than 5% international travel to customer sites in Canada, Mexico and the global headquarters in Switzerland.
Your contribution to success
By taking over the following tasks, you can develop your potential as well as grow and contribute to the success together with us:
- Act as CAM programmer for 8-axis machines for complex and small parts such as surgery instruments;
- Design and test cutting tools in collaboration with internal tool development team and external suppliers;
- Optimize customers' existing machining processes;
- Check feasibility for customer application-specific requirements and implement, analyze and resolve issues regarding cutting tools, programs, CAM or Fixtures, remotely and at customer sites;
- Conduct operator training on 8-axis machines;
- Perform runoff successfully in accordance with customer part requirements at the customer plant;
- Provide programming training for 8-axis machines including machine-specific cycles, G and M codes, machine kinematics and probing cycles;
- Conduct standard, advanced and customer-specific training in the RCS CAM software;
- Prepare documentation for application-related matters (e.g. protocols and instruction papers);
- Prepare time studies and feasibility studies to support the sales team;
- Carry out customer test cuts to demonstrate machine performance;
- Engineer new processes to demonstrate machine capabilities during trade shows;
- Train the sales team on new machine technologies; and
- Communicate frequently with the factory in Switzerland to stay up to date on the latest machine developments.
That’s what you bring with you
- Vocational High School Diploma with a concentration in manufacturing mechanics, or related field, or foreign diploma evaluated to be the U.S. equivalent of the same.
- 2 years of experience as an Applications or Mechanical Engineer or Technologist, or closely related.
- 2 years of experience in each of the following:
- Programming CNC Mill-Turn and Lathe machines;
- Programming 5-axis CAM systems;
- ISO G-code programming;
- 8-axis Mill-Turn type machine with sub spindles;
- Developing cutting strategy for micro mechanic parts; training customers on new machines;
- Fanuc Controls; and
- Programming automation systems.
Experience may be gained concurrently.
Salary: $101,800.08
